The entertainment is booked!

I finally booked the DJ for my wedding! Whoo hoo! Let me tell you, this decision was not easy! First off, I put the whole DJ thing off for a while because I thought it would be easy. Turns out, it wasn't! The first few that I looked at and really liked were over my budget. That started stressing me out and I ended up going to the Dallas bridal show with my sister trying to find a DJ, found one that I liked, but he was so cheap that it was almost scary! You would think super cheap is good, but everyone else I talked to in the industry had never heard of him or the company and I wasn't willing to risk having a bad reception. The poor guy probably would have done a good job, but you just never know and I really wanted someone with some great recommendations! So I kept asking around and ended up meeting with Tommy Evans of Specialty Sound. I know this sounds cheesy, but I got that same "feeling" that I got with all the other vendors I picked when we met with Tommy and I kept thinking the whole time that it was going to be way too expensive and would never work out, but that wasn't the case at all! Tommy has a lot of creative ideas for different fun things to do throughout the reception and I can't wait to see everything he comes up with! And by the way, that is not Tommy in the picture.

Oh Stoneleigh how I love you

The beautiful Stoneleigh Hotel in Uptown Dallas is going to be the breathtaking spot where we are having our engagement pictures taken on October 4th! Everything was pretty much finalized today and I am so excited! I absolutely love the Stoneleigh Hotel and everything about it. It is actually one of the places we would have liked to have our wedding, but it was not large enough to accommodate all our guests for the ceremony and reception. I'm glad we are getting to incorporate it somehow into all of the wedding hoopla! You will have to check out all the pictures on their website to really get a good idea of the setting for our pictures, but the majority of them are going to be taken in the Penthouse, which is actually where the original hotel owner used to live. It definitely has that vintage feel I was looking for and I think we are going to have so many fabulous rooms and backdrops to make some really great photos! Here are just a few pictures to give you an idea of what the hotel looks like.

Here is the outside of the hotel at the main entrance. I would love to get some pictures outside here.
Here is the hallway in the Penthouse of the hotel. I just love it!

And the lovely dining room in the Penthouse. The walls are so amazing. And check out that chandelier! It doesn't get prettier!

The music room inside the Penthouse. Again, another great chandelier!

And lastly, the beautiful terrace off the Penthouse. Look at the Dallas skyline! So beautiful at night!

Check out the Stoneleigh photo website for all the great pictures! I'm so excited!

There's a lot of Hankie Panky goin on!

So, starting about 2 months ago, I saw the fabulous idea to make my save-the-dates out of vintage handkerchiefs. You might be thinking that sounds strange, but let me give you an idea of what I'm talking about! I first saw the idea on the wonderful Lucky Luxe's blog and I fell in love with it! (By the way she has a fabulous blog, you have to check it out!)  Then I told my super crafty sister about the idea and she loved it as much as I do! Here is the first picture I saw on Lucky Luxe's blog:

So after getting all excited about the idea since I knew it was perfect for me, I started trying to figure out how I was going to go about finding 200 vintage hankies at a reasonable price! That was the one thing I didn't want to do with this project: spend a ridiculous amount of money. So, I looked at a couple of antique stores and found that they had several beautiful hankies, but they were all way more than I wanted to spend. I was getting a little down thinking I would never be able to follow through with the idea, when I decided to try ebay! Of course! Why hadn't I thought of that right away?? And of course, ebay was my savior. There are so many vintage hankies on there for sale its unbelievable. And though some do go for higher prices, it is easy to find several that are affordable and cute! So I started collecting hankies really fast thanks to ebay!
To make things even more exciting, my sister sent me an email with a link she had seen on Style Me Pretty's blog about someone else doing vintage hankie save-the-dates! And here are the pictures. Thanks to Style Me Pretty, I started following this blog, Benign Objects. Here are some of her pictures of her own save-the-date hankies. How inspiring! Thanks Rachel!

The silhouette of the couple is so unique and vintage-looking. I absolutely love it! There are step by step instructions on how she did it on her blog. Be sure and check it out!

I can only hope mine turn out this fabulous and beautiful! Thanks so much for the inspiration! Now here are a couple of pics of the hankies I've gotten so far! I can't wait to start the printing process!

I have a whole table full! But I still need about 60 more. Come on ebay!

Here is a close-up so you can see some of the hankie detail. I have gotten some really beautiful ones, but some I could live without! The ones I don't like will be returning to ebay after this is all over!

So what does everyone think about this idea? Do you love it as much as I do??

Pretty Dress!

I found the dress I am going to where for our engagement pictures! It has the vintage feel that I'm looking for and the colors are neutral and timeless. And of course, I found it at Anthropolgie! Where else? Here it is:

So what do you think? I think I also want a jeans outfit to wear for some of our pics for something more casual, but I haven't gotten that far yet! One step at a time!
